Legislative Resume

Here is a brief summary of my legislative focus, current, past, and liaison assignments while on the legislature. Not intended to be inclusive; it provides a snapshot.

• I focus on sustainable economic development, which I define to include smart growth and tourism as well as workforce development.
• My involvement with local transportation  (Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit) predates my time on the legislature.
• I advocate for the working class, which has come to include all but the extremely wealthy.
• I’m committed to insuring equity and transparency in Tompkins County government.
• I support efforts to assist the poor, the unemployed, and the underemployed to better their economic status with training, low cost housing, and programs to improve skills.
• The role of government is to support the common good while maintaining needed services without undue economic burden on the taxpayers. I have devoted my time in office to keeping that balance.
